Welcome to AI Foundations and Strategic Impact in Telecom, a course developed by the Telecommunications Education Center (TEC) to provide a clear, structured introduction to artificial intelligence and its growing role in the telecommunications industry.

Telecommunications networks are entering a period of significant transformation. What was once a connectivity-focused industry is rapidly evolving into one centered on intelligent, data-driven systems. Artificial intelligence is no longer an emerging concept—it is becoming foundational to how modern networks are designed, operated, and optimized.

This course explains how and why that shift is occurring. It introduces the core concepts behind AI, examines the business and operational drivers behind its adoption, and outlines how AI is being applied across network operations, customer experience, and broader industry use cases.

No prior background in artificial intelligence is required.
